Black and white photography continues to be a powerful medium for portraying works of art despite advances in technology and color photography that would lead you to believe that it should be an obsolete art form.
But that was certainly not the case. Over the years we have seen black and white take on a new artistic value. Black and white photography is able to evoke some qualities and emotions that can not be achieved in color. Some modern movies are filmed entirely in black and white in order to take advantage of these emotions. Art galleries and fine art museums also frequently have displays that use black and white extensively.
